Check on seal and alignment. For mechanical seal PC pump, alignment is the most important, double-check on the alignment to ensure the mechanical seal is properly installed. For gland packing type, you need to tighten the nut and check if there is any leaking. Gland packing cannot be over-tightened and loosen. When overly tighten, it will increase the friction between gland packing with shaft and cause wear and tear. When it is not adjusted properly, it will cause pump leaking and defeat the purpose of sealing.
Open Inlet and Discharge Valves. This is important before start operating the PC pump because not all PC pumps are installed with a safety relieving valve. When pump spare operates while the inlet valve is closed, no incoming fluid from inlet and cause pump dry run and cause stator damage. When operating without an open discharge valve, incoming fluid will be pump to the outlet but the valve is still closed, which will cause pressure to increase rapidly and burst.
Check The Motor Connection. The motor connection must be correct before operating the pump. A wrong connection will cause your motor to burnt, therefore, check before start operation.
Install Safety Guard. A safety guard must be installed back after pump maintenance or installation. Because safety guards are often removed during the installation process. The safety guard is to provide protection at the risk of anything being caught in the fast-moving rotating shaft.
Refer to Operating Menu. Follow all the startup and procedures from the operating menu provided by the manufacturer
